Starcomms Launches the first Social Networking Site on SMS - Twitter

At Starcomms, we are always introducing innovative products and opportunities and coming to market with technologies to enhance the user experience.

The social networking space is slowly crossing the barrier of the web and entering into the mobile arena. Companies are focusing on developing products and solutions to help grow their communities. That is why at Starcomms, we take innovation seriously and the first to come to the market with products.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Twitter. This is again, another first from Starcomms and first in Africa to introduce this product. Twitter has increasingly gained popularity and has touched human life in the following spare of newsgathering and dissemination: celebrity fan followership, sports, corporate communications, crisis management, events and happenings, community affinities, educational discussions, product release and launches, politics and gossips.

**** Please note that the registration is for twitter on Starcomms network.  You should have a twitter account to use the service. At present Twitter does not allow direct registration through Phone.

  •        A short code 33399 is assigned for the service
  •        To register send REG to short code
  •        To get INFO send “info” to the short code
  •        To get an update from a friend send ON to short code
  •        To update/POST a status send POST to short code
  •        Alternatively, user may register from the twitter website and validate his Nigerian mobile Phone
  •        Accept an invitation from a registered Twitter user via SMS
  •        To delete your account text "delete me" or "stop all" to Short Code
  •        Disable all mobile updates by texting any of the following words to Short Code: “off, end, stop, quit, cancel, unsubscribe”
  •        Disable mobile updates from a specific registered Twitter user or users by texting "leave username" to short code (where "username" is a registered Twitter username)
